Snowshoeing during your holidays in South Tyrol
Exploring a silent winter wonderland
Alongside skiing and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing is one of the most popular sports in South Tyrol. Snowshoes were invented way back in the Stone Age – the people used wide pieces of wood strapped to their feet to help them better traverse the ice and snow so they could find food. Today, locals and tourists alike enjoy the winter tranquillity one can experience when snowshoeing. While trudging gently through the snow in South Tyrol, you’ll be rewarded with the most breathtaking views of our unique mountain landscape.
In the area surrounding Falzes and our Green Lake Hotel Weiher, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to strap on your snowshoes and enjoy the stunning scenery. The unique Dolomites are also about half an hour from our hotel in the Puster Valley. South Tyrol has routes for all tastes and all ability levels – whether you fancy a leisurely walk or whether you want to walk to the summit of one of our mountains. You can hire snowshoes from one of the ski rental shops nearby.
